Dojo Wars 7

Well, since I don’t have anything to do on Wednesday nights, and the CZW Academy is only 20 minutes from my house, every other week I’ll be attending Dojo Wars, their bi-weekly “House Show”. It’s 5 matches for 5 bucks, how can you go wrong with that? Since the only way to see the show is to be there, and only a very limited number of people can fit in the place, I’ll let you in on all the details with a full results list, pictures and match breakdown.

Another good week of wrestling at this week’s Dojo Wars, which was probably the most aggressive show yet. And for once it didn’t start with a Conor Claxton vs. Frankie Pickard match! Plus a rematch for the CZW Wired TV Championship. Can Joe Gacy retain?

Results:

  • Nate Carter defeated Andrew Wolf
  • Dave McCall defeated Chuck Mambo
  • DJ Hyde defeated Frankie Pickard
  • Shane Strickland defeated Joe Gacy to regain the CZW Wired Television Championship
  • Qefka The Quiet, Brittany Blake, and Kit Osbourne defeated Preacher Finneus James, Brooke Danielle, and “Galloping Gary”

Because Conor Claxton is apparently out joining the protests in Ferguson, Mo., and is possibly in jail because of it, the standard opening match of the night between Conor Claxton and Frankie Pickard didn’t happen. Instead we we were treated to something different in the form of Andrew Wolf against Nate Carter. Carter wore pants with pink stripes this week after he lost a bet to Danny Havoc after a bout of drinking. I think he looked much better with the dark pants, and it went along with the more aggressive style he used tonight. Wolf got Carter into the corner, but Carter caught Wolf with a powerful slap to the face when he tried to capitalize. Wolf then said he wasn’t done, and asked for more, so Carter slapped the hell out of him yet again. Carter got Wolf setup for a piledriver, but instead of dropping him down, actually picked him up over his shoulders, then slammed him down face first for the pin.

After his loss, Wolf said he found a guy in England that he invited to be in the next match, Dave McCall vs Chuck Mambo. How a English surfer gimmick makes any sense, I don’t really know, but it made for a fun match. McCall also wore dark pants this week, which I think works better for him. Mambo played his part just like Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and was amazed at himself anytime he did anything good. At various points throughout the match, McCall stopped to check or take notes in a notepad he kept at ringside. Mambo got in a couple of good surfboards, because of course he did. While Mambo had McCall in an abdominal stretch, he ticked him while giving the “surf’s up” sign. McCall dragged Mambo to the edge of the apron, then landed a leg drop on him. Mambo threw McCall to the corner, then hit him with a series of three dropkicks. McCall recovered with a massive German Suplex, with Mambo landing right on his head. Mambo then tried to imitate Macho Man Randy Savage and drop an elbow from the top rope, but McCall rolled out of the way and caught him with a spin kick to the face for the win.

I don’t think Frankie Pickard should be all too happy about not having a match with Conor Claxton, as he ended up fighting DJ Hyde instead. This was a pure squash match through and through, and was done in under two minutes. It was pretty much a Feats of Strength, with DJ bending Pickard all the way onto his back, a few chest slaps, and then DJ winning with a rollover crucifix pin.

After intermission “Mav Lesnar” (Maven Bentley with body paint on) came storming in looking to break the only undefeated streak in Dojo Wars, that of announcer Emil J. He picked Emil up for a F5, but lost his footing, and dropped Emil right on top of him, which lead to a three count. It all happened so fast, I didn’t have a chance to get any pictures.

The next match was a rematch between Joe Gacy and Shane Strickland for the CZW Wired TV championship. I guess they are going the way of The Rockers and whitewashing Gacy’s title reign away, as he ended up losing, so it will have no effect on the people who only watch the Pay Per Views. It wasn’t nearly as exciting a match as last week’s, as that was unexpected with Gacy’s win, but this I was afraid something like this was coming. Gacy got in a few good moves, like suplexing Strickland back into the ring from the apron. The match was pretty heavily in Strickland’s favor, as he caught Gacy early in an RKO when he attempted to shoulder block into the ring from the apron over the ropes. Strickland won with a pretty weak rollup with some tights grabbing. Hopefully this is the start of something more and will spill over into the Pay Per Views to get Gacy a meaningful title reign.

The main event for the evening was a 6 person intergender elimination tag team match featuring the team of Preacher Finneus James, Brooke Danielle, and “Galloping Gary” vs. Qefka The Quiet, Brittany Blake, and Kit Osbourne.

  • Brooke Danielle eliminated by Brittany Blake after Stratusfaction.
  • Kit Osbourne eliminated by “Galloping Gary” after taking Gary’s knees to the chest.
  • Brittany Blake eliminated Preacher Finneus James by submission.
  • “Galloping Gary” eliminated by Qefka the Quiet after a stunner.
  • Preacher Finneus James eliminated by Qefka the Quiet after failing the “limp arm” test following a Million Dollar Dream.
