Alf coming back, and not in POG form

No, this time, our favorite cat eating Alien Life Form from Melmac, Gordan Shumway, is coming back in a new movie.

Because apparently nothing is sacred anymore, and not learning from the last time they did it, and pretty much because Hollywood is out of ideas, Sony is planing on making a new live action/CGI hybrid movie based on the 80’s sitcom ALF. In fact, they are bringing in someone with experience stepping all over your childhood memories and turning them into crappy CGI movies, Jordan Kerner, who was responsible for last years Smurfs movie. Yeah, this is a great idea. I love me some Katy Perry and NPH, but if Neil Patrick Harris’ innate awesomeness can’t save your film, nothing can.

So while we’re pretty sure this will most likely suck, there is one good bit of news related to this. Original series creators Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco are attached to the project, with Fusco expected to reprise his voice acting duties and provide Alf’s voice.

Listen, I love me some Alf. I had an Alf themed birthday party as a child, complete with Alf shaped cake. I had the talking ALF stuffed animal. I forced my parents to drive to every Burger King in the area until I got all 4 puppet and record sets. I still have my VHS copy of The Alf Project somewhere. I however can’t possibly imagine any way this can end up being any good. Maybe if they bring back Max Wright, but he’s 70 years old now and hasn’t acted in a decade. Or Jim J Bullock. Bring him back and I’ll totally pay money to see this.
