Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week I help you get to know me a bit better with the help of a top five list! In keeping with this month’s them of the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers, this week’s category is: Favorite Zords!

Who wouldn’t want to control a giant transforming robot? And not only do they transform, they combine with other giant robots to become bigger and more badass! No one, that’s why everyone loves the Power Rangers and all their Zords.

So this week I pick my favorite Zords. One catch: No megazords, just individual Zords this week.

Limiting this list to not include megazords makes this a much harder list. However, if they were included, my list would be: Dino Ultrazord (MMPR), for its ridiculous immenseness; Ninja Mega Falconzord (MMPR), because I like how the Falconzord’s wings come through the chest as a gun turret; Winged Mega Voyager (PRIS), because it’s a goddamn transforming spaceship; Any one of the insane number of Megazord combos from Power Rangers Wild Force, for its sheer flexibility; Mezodon Megazord (PRDT), for also being insanely immense and armed to the point it shouldn’t be able to move, but also adding wheels to dinosaurs for some reason.

  1. Tor, the shuttlezord (MMPR) – He only appeared like 6 times, but I loved that little turtle guy.
  2.

  3. Pyramidas (PRZ) – You wouldn’t think a giant pyramid would make for a formidable battling giant robot, but somehow they managed to do it, and gave it a totally ridiculous name, which is pretty much why I love it.
  4.

  5. Titanus (MMPR) – The most versatile carrier zord, combining with the original Megazord, the Ninja Zords, and the Shogun Zords. My favorite thing about him is that there was no footage of him combining with the Shogun or Ninja Zords, it was just shots of someone lowering one set of toys into the other with a bunch of smoke effects.
  6.

  7. Quantasaurus Rex (PRTF) – An out of control, time traveling T-rex. Sounds like fun! Or basically a larger, robotic Charizard.
  8.

  9. Brachiozord (PWDT) – Looks like the bastard child that would result if Tor and Titanus got drunk and hooked up late one night at a party. Also, it’s the last and biggest in the line of Zords piloted by one Tommy Oliver
