community season 5

While there has been no official world from NBC, numerous sources are reporting that NBC has canceled Community. We are truly living in the darkest of timelines.

Given the ups and downs Community has experienced, this is hardly unexpected. It’s been a struggle to get a renewal every year after its first season. This past season was a real rebound over last year’s Dan Harmon-less existence, but the numbers were still not all that good. The season as a whole averaged just 3.8 million viewers and a 1.6 in demo with DVR playback included. All things seemed to point to a renewal, as it did not appear that NBC had anything better to replace it, but it seem they have changed their minds.

Things are not totally dead, just mostly dead, as Sony could still try shopping the series around to a streaming site like Hulu or Netflix. I would totally get Netflix just for Community. It’s also possible they could opt to go straight into the talked about movie. Who knows what the future holds, but today is definitely a dark day. It is most definitely not October 19th in my heart.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna take all my clothes off and cry in a corner.
