Dojo Wars 18

Well, since I don’t have anything to do on Wednesday nights, and the CZW Academy is only 20 minutes from my house, every other week I’ll be attending Dojo Wars, their bi-weekly “House Show”. It’s 5 matches for 5 bucks, how can you go wrong with that? Since the only way to see the show is to be there, and only a very limited number of people can fit in the place, I’ll let you in on all the details with a full results list, pictures and match breakdown.

Dojo Wars makes its triumphant return this week. I missed the last two, what with being sick for one, and then not being able to get out of work early on New Years’s Eve for an early afternoon scheduled show for the other. But it’s OK, I didn’t miss much, besides the first matches from George Gatton and Penelope Ford. This week a ton of wrestlers were there, so there were a lot of large tag matches. Even though there was a title defense of the Wired Championship, the match of the night definitely belonged to Andrew Wolf.

Results:

  • George Gatton defeated Dan O’Hare
  • Frankie Pikard, Nate Carter, and Dave McCall defeated Lennon Duffy, Marcus Clutch, and Slugger Clark
  • Nyla Rose defeated Amber Rodriguez
  • Andrew Wolf defeated Rex Lawless
  • Penelope Ford, Kai Katana, Brittany Blake, Blake Morris, Conor Claxton, and Seductive Sebastian defeated Rolento Balard, T.J. Marconi, Ryan Galeone, Stockade, Brooke Danielle, and Trooper Audubon
  • Joe Gacy defeated Joey Janella in a No Disqualifications match to retain the Wired championship

George Gatton vs. Dan O’Hare

This is apparently only Gatton’s third match, and it shows. This was a really quick match that was kind of awkward, but not outright bad or anything, just nothing special. Gatton picked up the win by reversing into a small package.

Winner: George Gatton
Bell Time: 3:19

Frankie Pikard, Nate Carter, and Dave McCall vs. Lennon Duffy, Marcus Clutch, and Slugger Clark

It shouldn’t have to be said, as it’s 2015, but it’s a little weird to get a six man tag where all six men are black. It shouldn’t be an issue, it’s just something you notice. This isn’t the 80’s in WWE. Well, maybe it was, because it played out like an episode of Wrestling Challenge with the team of known guys versus local jobbers who did not stand a chance. The match started with Clutch calling out Pikard and calling him “Blue Pants” , even though he was clearly wearing trunks. There was a series of shoulder blocks, with neither going down after several traded attempts, with Pikard finally knocking down his opponent. Carter managed to get Clutch up for an Electric Chair, and followed it up with a Fisherman’s Suplex. Pikard picked up the victory with a nasty looking modified leg lock.

Winner: Frankie Pikard, Nate Carter, and Dave McCall

Amber Rodriguez vs. Nyla Rose

Up next was Nyla Rose versus Amber Rodriguez. The crowd was just not all that interested in this match, being pretty much dead throughout. That may have had to do with the size differential, as Nyla was clearly much larger and stronger than Rodriguez. After just a few short minutes, Rose picked up the win with a spear.

Winner: Nyla Rose
Bell Time: 5:50

Rex Lawless vs. Andrew Wolf

Apparently during the two Dojo Wars I missed, Andrew Wolf has struck up a rivalry with Joey Janella and his buddy Rex Lawless. Though this match was just a scant 9 minutes, it truly felt epic. Wolf has come a long way, and is very clearly a crowd favorite. This match was structured like the classic match at Wrestlemania III between Hulk and Andre. Wolf played the underdog up against the much larger Lawless. Wolf pulled out a ton of new moves he’d never used before, like an Axe Handle Smash from the top turnbuckle, and a Rolling Thunder Elbow. Lawless however managed to deliver a Snake Eyes, and follow it up with a boot to the face. Wolf recovered and managed to body slam Lawless, and the whole crowd erupted. He then went for a People’s Elbow, but Lawless countered it into a Sitout Powerbomb. Wolf wasn’t finished though, and managed to deliver a massive Rock Bottom to pick up the win. Wolf entered a Level 7 Wizard, but he left a Level 8 Beast Slayer!

Winner: Andrew Wolf
Bell Time: 9:19

Penelope Ford, Kai Katana, Brittany Blake, Blake Morris, Conor Claxton, and Seductive Sebastian vs Rolento Balard, TJ Marconi, Ryan Galeone, Stockade, Brooke Danielle, and Trooper Audubon

This match was a bit of a mess, if only because of the sheer amount of people involved. Penelope tried to take on Marconi, to little effect. Brittany got beat up alot, like she always does. She did however manage to get Stockade with a Hurricanrana from the top turnbuckle. Sebastian then scoop slammed her on top of Stockade. Brittany tried a cross body from the top rope, but Stockade just caught her and threw her down. He then tried to return the favor by slamming Brooke onto Brittany, but she rolled out of the way. Penelope botched a series of back handsprings into the corner, over rotating and landing much farther then she thought she would. It’s only her third match, so it’s not totally unexpected. She owned it though. She got her foot caught in the rope, slipped right out of the ring onto the apron, then jumped over the ropes and hit a bulldog like it’s what she meant to do in the first place. She managed to keep her composure, and picked up the win with a backwards bridging pin on Trooper, who was none too happy to lose to a girl.

Winner: Penelope Ford, Kai Katana, Brittany Blake, Blake Morris, Conor Claxton, and Seductive Sebastian
Bell Time: 27:32

Joe Gacy vs. Joey Janella

For a CZW no DQ match, this was not nearly as extreme as it could have been. The most extreme spots were Janella slamming Gacy’s hand on a steel chair, and Gacy hitting a suplex outside the ring on the concrete in front of the VIP seats. Gacy did go for a powerbomb on the apron, but Janela slipped over the ropes and back into the ring. Gacy then got a hold of the a large bolt that they ring the bell with, and clocked Janella with it. He then used the bolt to take off one of the turnbuckles, and get the large hooked bolt that holds it to the ringpost. He then hooked Janella in the mouth with it like a fish. It was at this point that Rex Lawless stormed the ring, and sprayed Gacy in the face with hairspray, blinding him. Andrew Wolf, who had been in the corner cheering Gacy on since the bell, then ran in and made the save, chasing Lawless off, hitting him with the discarded bolt. Janella then tried to run off Wolf, but Wolf hit him with a low blow. Wolf then pulled a still out of it Gacy over Janella for the pin. Wolf then explained to a recovering Gacy how he had saved him, which made Gacy angry. Gacy yelled at Wolf to stay out of his business, he didn’t need any help.

Winner: Joe Gacy
Bell Time: 14:17

Forgive me if I goof on some names and spellings, I try to research them as best I can, but many of the participants at these shows are new wrestlers so there isn’t anything online about them yet and I have to go by what I think I hear the announcer say.
