Well, since I don’t have anything to do on Wednesday nights, and the CZW Academy is only 20 minutes from my house, every week I’ll be attending Dojo Wars, their weekly “House Show”. It’s at least 5 matches for just 5 bucks, how can you go wrong with that? Because the only way to see the show is to be there, and only a very limited number of people can fit in the place, I’ll let you in on all the details with a full results list, pictures and match breakdown.

Apparently this week a big crew of wrestlers from Fighting Spirit Wrestling came down from Brooklyn, so we got to see some new faces and get in some new matchups. Trooper Audubon opened up his home to the Vatican for the Pope’s visit, and as such the Dojo Wars Grand Prix Trial Series Jack Tunney Memorial Invitational Open Challenge is currently suspended. Only in wrestling does that sentence make any sense.

Nutrious X vs. Conor Claxton

Oh how the mighty have fallen. After nearly winning last weekend’s Tournament of Death, Conor was reduced to an opening squash match. That’s a pretty far slide down the card. There wasn’t much to this, as Nutrious didn’t stand a chance here. He did deliver a very nice looking drop kick that he continued to flip himself around for. Conor picked up the win with a Fireman’s Carry Slam.

Winner: Conor Claxton
Bell Time: 3:36

Nick Payne and Hakim Ali vs. Nate Carter and Dave McCall

Payne opened the match by pulling on Carter’s deadlocks, to which Carter responded by yanking on Payne’s beard. McCall hit a Backstabber on Payne. Things then broke down, with all four competitors in the ring. Payne hit Carter with a Spinebuster, then McCall clocked Ali with a jumping knee to the face, and then The Dub Boys hit a 3D to score the win.

Winner: Nate Carter and Dave McCall
Bell Time: 8:38

Brittany Blake vs. Jasmine Naveen

To start, each took turns winning at the Feats of Strength, forcing their opponent bridged down to the mat. Things were then slowly paced for a while, with a bunch of wrist and head locks. But about half way though, things really picked up. Jasmine finally got to show some personality, laughing at Brittany and then yelling at her to “Give it [her] best shot” when she tried to knock her down with a Shoulder Block. Three tries couldn’t budge her, so on the fourth, much like last week, Brittany turned to the Enziguri. Brittany threw Jasmine to the corner, then hit her with a Bronco Buster. Jasmine countered Stratusfaction, landing Brittany, then turning it into a Back Suplex. Brittany then went for a dive from the top rope, but Jasmine dodged and caught her in a Schoolgirl for the shocking upset.

Winner: Jasmine Naveen

Big Daddy Dre vs. Rex Lawless

Lawless is apparently trying out some new nicknames, including the nonsensical but alliterative “Pectoral Poseidon” and the Jurassic World themed “Trapezisaurus Rex”. Dre was a bit all over the place, yelling at everyone when we didn’t clap for his entrance, then begging for our applause, then telling us to shut up when we clapped. Dre managed to get himself up for a Flying Cross Body and nearly flattened Lawless. Lawless tried to pick Dre up for the bodyslam, but couldn’t handle the weight initially and Dre came crashing down on him. Dre then made a series of sloppy pinning attempts that Lawless easily kicked out from. When I yelled at him that’s only gonna keep happening unless he hooks the leg, he yelled at me and my “Stupid NASA shirt”. Lawless soon afterwards picked up the win with his Chokeslam/Sitout Powerbomb combo.

Winner: Rex Lawless

Frankie Pikard vs. Joey Janela

Apparently now all of Janela’s matches start with some form of compitition. This time instead of a dance contest, it was a “Kip-Off”, as they both did a exchange of Kip Ups. Pikard did a Kip Up into a Dropkick, and then a Kip Up into a DDT. Janela played up his “Bad Boy” image with a thumb to the eye of Pikard. Janela tried to jump up over the ropes to the apron and botched, but quickly recovered to a nice Fisherman’s Suplex, driving Pikard onto his head. Janela chased that with a Package Piledriver, but it wasn’t enough to keep Pikard down. Pikard scored the win when Janela went for the Double Foot Stomp from the top rope, but Pikard caught his feet and countered into a Leglock.

Afterward the win, Pikard started cutting a promo about how he’s been in Dojo Wars for over a year now, with his fair share of ups and downs, and it was time he challenged himself to get to the next level, and so he was calling out Joe Gacy for a shot at the Wired Title. At that point Josh Adams entered and demanded to know what Pikard had done to earn the right to call his own matches. At that point the non-Emil, Larry from The Three Stooges ring announcer told him it was “Because unlike you he wins his matches”, and the place erupted. Adams tried to charge at him, but the ref and Emil had to hold him back. At this point Emil announced that if Adams could win his match with his opponent tonight, he’d be in line for a shot at the Wired title right after Pikard. And that match, was right now.

Winner: Frankie Pikard

Josh Adams vs. Joe Gacy

Adams spent most of the match focused on Gacy’s knee, trying to keep him down. Adams countered a kick attempt by ducking low and rolling Gacy into his Flat Crab finisher, but Gacy was able to grab the bottom rope to save himself. Gacy won when he forced Adams to tap to the Rings of Saturn causing Adam’s losing streak to continue for a 5th straight week.

Winner: Joe Gacy

George Gatton and Dan O’Hare vs. Qefka the Quiet and Curt Robinson

This was the most over match at the Dojo in quite some time. George Gatton is extremely popular with the crowd, and everyone just ate this match up. Qefka started out against O’Hare, and ended up riding him like a pony, because of course he did. They both tagged out, bringing in Gatton and Robinson. They shared an extended sequence of amatuer style catch wrestling. Robinson hit Gatton with a variety of different Suplexes. Qefka hit Mime Time, then tried to lasso Gatton. Ostensibly he succeeded, but Gatton is a terrible mime and really no sold it. Both teams then got the hot tags. Qefka then took it to O’Hare, wearing him down with a Sleeper. A woozy O’Hare stumbled to his corner and tagged in an even woozier Gatton, who then proceeded to get tapped out by Robinson with a Choke Hold. Afterwards, Gatton got in O’Hare’s face for tagging him in when he was clearly wasn’t ready, and the two of them had to be separated by Qefka and Robinson. O’Hare left the ring in a huff, with the three remaining combatants celebrating together.

Winner: Qefka the Quiet and Curt Robinson
