Sony’s popular PlayStation Plus program will be seeing some changes in how the free games are handled in the coming months.

Starting in July, the Instant Game Collection will see 2 free games per month for each of their current platforms – PlayStation 3, 4, and Vita. Each month’s games will be available on the first Tuesday of that month, and then will be replaced with the following month’s on the same day, as opposed to the current system of one lone game added per week. Once downloaded, they will still remain available for as long as the Plus subscription remains active, this just means that subscribers will now have a solid month to get the game, instead of the less specific time period that the current games are on. Speaking of which, Sony has stated that the longer running games in the collection will soon be phased out, so the last chance to claim them is approaching fast.

This comes just after the announcement of June’s addition to the collection, which will feature Trine 2: Complete Story and Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate for PS4, NBA 2K14 and Sly Cooper: ThievesĀ in Time on PS3, and Terraria and Mutant Mudds Deluxe on the Vita.

I’m really unsure of whether this change is a good move or not. On one hand, this does equal out to more games per month total, but on the other, this could mean less play time and overall less money made for the developers of these games. If you’re a subscriber, what do you think of this change?

He likes to keep an open mind about things, but also has a strangely high amount of fun getting into a rant or good debate. . . which is probably why he was recruited to this site in the first place.
