In an effort to try to reclaim some market share over the summer, and keeping in line with their new broader menu of smoothies and other things that aren’t entirely terrible for you, Burger King will be adding some new limited time items to its menu this week. They are playing up on the whole “flame broiled” thing, and going with a summer cookout type theme for these items, which includes a Memphis Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich, Carolina or Texas BBQ Whopper (the difference between them I don’t know, I assume different style sauce) and Sweet Potato fries. But while those sound intriguing from a place that historically focused on burgers, the one the really interests me is the new Bacon Sundae. You read that right. BACON SUNDAE.

The new sundae is made of vanilla soft serve with fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles and a piece of bacon for garnish. The only way that could possible be any better if Maple Syrup or Jack Daniels Glaze were involved somehow. They clock in with 510 calories, 61 grams of sugar, and 18 grams of fat, which considering it’s a ice cream sundae made of meat isn’t entirely terrible for you. For comparison, a Whopper with cheese is 760 calories, 11 grams of sugar, and 47 grams of fat. So really, don’t eat too many of either, but everything is good in moderation, right? But just look at that picture. If that is not the the essence of deliciousness, I don’t know what is. So go try one, they are sticking around until September 3, or while supplies last.
