IDW revives unfinished Dinosaurs Attack comic for series 25th anniversary
Mars Attacks may have gotten all the attention and the big budget movie, but everyone knows the way cooler gruesome Topps card set has always been Dinosaurs Attack. In fact, Tim Burton was originally going to do a film adaptation of Dinosaurs Attack, but Jurassic Park came out, and he didn’t think he could sell a gory dark comedy version of dinosaurs after that, and instead pursued Mars Attacks. Dinosaurs Attack had a surprising deep back story for a card set with only 55 cards that was aimed at children. It involved a bunch of time travel and predestination paradoxes, and dinosaur demons and people making the ultimate sacrifice to save the world, and was supposed to be flushed out even further in a comic book series by Eclipse Comics back in 1991. Unfortunately, that story was never finished and was canceled after just one issue. That is, until now. IDW is going to reprint that one issue, as well as finish the story. I for one, welcome our new dinosaur overlords, as I actually own this issue, and the full card set (including the sticker set!), and have been totally bummed the series was canceled before it was finished since the day I picked it up in some random dollar box. You can read the full press release after the jump, and get nightmares from one of the sickest images ever sold to children, which still gives me goosebumps to this day.
