The Console Wars are in full swing. To celebrate, I’m taking this time to go back and pick the best games of all the previous generations that I think You (Probably) Should Have Played, one letter at a time.

Check out all the other entries in the Games You (Probably) Should Have Played series if you haven’t already.

King’s Quest (PC – 1984)
I’m partial to KQ III personally, but any one from the series would do here. I’m sure modern players will look at it as a odd relic of a past time, as there was no interface per say, you just typed away commands like “go left” or “pick up book” or “cast spell”, but that’s what made the games fun. You had to think critically about what was on the screen and what you could do with them in order to advance. King’s Quest was the first and most popular of the “Sierra” style of adventure games. While King’s Quest was a fantasy type game, the same basic principles of the series were ported over to other game series, like Space Quest (Sci-Fi), Quest for Glory (RPG), and Leisure Suit Larry (Smut).
