Disney Movies

Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week I help you get to know me a bit better with the help of a top five list! This week’s category: Classic Disney Movies!

The newest Disney princess movie was released in theaters this week, so let’s take a look at some Disney movies. If you assumed this list would be all animated films, you would be mistaken.

I’m a 32 year old single only child with no kids of my own, so I haven’t seen an animated Disney movie in over 20 years. And even as a kid, I never really “got” Disney. As I’ve tried to argue before, Mickey Mouse hasn’t been in an major animated feature in like 30 years, but yet somehow he’s still popular. I don’t really understand it. Therefore I took this list in the complete opposite direction while still staying within the rules.

  1. Pinocchio – I only picked this because I thought it’s unofficial quasi-sequel, Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night was far better.
  2.

  3. Flight of the Navigator – I must have seen this like 500 times. Pee Wee Herman as the voice of a spaceship. Does it get any more 80s-tastic?
  4.

  5. Newsies – Christian Bale in a musical. That is all.
  6.

  7. The Mighty Ducks – While they tend to ignore it nowadays, it was such a big deal back then, they actually named a real hockey team after them.
  8.

  9. The Rocketeer – Jetpacks and a young Jennifer Connolly.
