Confirmed: The Return of Frute Brute and Yummy Mummy Monster Cereals!

After weeks of speculation, this morning it was finally confirmed by General Mills. For the first time ever all five monster cereals will be released at the same time. That means not only will you be getting your standard Boo Berry, Franken Berry, and Count Chocula this Halloween, you also get new versions of Frute Brute and Yummy Mummy!

Of course this happens when I’m on a no-carb diet, but I think I can make an exception. I’ve been known to eat nothing but Boo Berry and Franken Berry for weeks during the season, and will drive many miles in search of these elusive cereals. Even though I’m an old man, Frute Brute was before my time, being discontinued in 1982. Yummy Mummy however I remember fondly, as it ended its run in 1992.

I am very much looking forward to gorging myself on sweetened corn bits and fruity marshmallow pieces. Screw that Count Chocula guy. He thinks because he’s around longer he’s the best of the bunch? No way. Everyone knows the fruit flavored ones are the best, and now they far outnumber him and his chocolateness. Hopefully the whole gang, whatever your flavor preference is, shouldn’t be too hard to find this year, as Target will be offering all five cereals, but in sweet retro styled boxes.
