To Friday Five, Television

Brady-Bunch-Grid

Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week we help you get to know us a little better with the help of a top five list. This week’s category: TV Parents.

If you’re anything at all like me, you were practically raised by TV. I mean, it never showed up to school plays or my graduation, or ever gave me an allowance, but TV sure taught me a lot about how a family is supposed to be.

  1. Homer SimpsonThe Simpsons – He never met a parenting challenge he couldn’t drink/strangle away.
  2.

  3. Randy MarshSouth Park – Frankly, he’s the best character on South Park, all his adventures are way better than his son’s.
  4.

  5. Jack ArnoldThe Wonder Years – For being the TV dad most like my own dad
  6.

  7. Bill CosbyThe Cosby Show – The quintessential TV dad almost every TV dad from the 80’s forwards was based on.
  8.

  9. Mr. McMahon – WWE – He was not a good father by any means – Kidnaping his own daughter and nearly sacrificing her with The Undertaker, getting into prolonged streetfights with his son, but damn if their family exploits weren’t watchable as hell.

is the proud owner of a life size replica Captain Kirk Chair. He is a hoarder of Comic Books, Transformers, and Star Trek action figures. He attended Space Camp as an adult. He has taken vacations to the closing of the Star Trek Experience and the final night Shuttle launch. He has been known to yell at his television when the kids can't put together the damn statue in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. When not writing for InsufficientScotty, he is a Software Engineer for a major healthcare communications company.
