Welcome to Take It Or Leave It, where each week I pick out new comics and tell you if they’re worth the price and you should take them, or if you should just leave them on the shelf.

I previewed this book yesterday for the Tuesday Preview, and now here’s my full review for Image Comics’ Trigger Girl 6 #1

Trigger Girl 6 #1

Creators: Palmiotti – Gray – Noto
Well, that was. . . unexpected. Based on the preview art, I expected something with a kick ass female assassin, with like a La Femme Nikita type vibe. That’s almost what happens. It’s more like Dollhouse, if Dollhouse wasn’t on Fox and was a better show (Sorry, I’m still upset it got renewed and Sarah Connor Chronicles didn’t). It’s got the amnesic assassin questioning her origins, and I must say her origins are the most original thing I think I’ve ever seen in the genre. I’m not going to spoil it, but let’s just say you would never guess it. I hope this one shot leads to more, as the closing scene is fairly open ended, and there are a ton of lingering questions and open possibilities for more story. Definitely worth a read through for the sheer insanity of it, and for Phil Noto’s beautiful flowing arrtwork.

Verdict: Take It

Score: 9/10
