Bugs Bunny

Welcome to the Saturday Six, where each week I let you get to know me a bit better with the help of a list. Any idiot can do a Top 5 list, which is why I kicked it up a notch to a Top 6. This week’s topic: Bunnies.

So with tomorrow being Easter, I figured today would be a good time to go over rabbits, seeing as I’ve already done cats, dogs, and mice. What does a giant rabbit have to do with Easter, let alone chocolate? The hell if I know. But just remember, over there, that’s just a guy in a suit. Also, the one at the Menlo Park mall is more convincing.

    Nestle Quik Bunny

  1. Nestle Quik Bunny – What ever happened to the Quik bunny? It feels like I haven’t seen him in ages. In the 80’s he was everywhere, he was in commercials playing baseball with kids, in comic books ads, he even had his own comic where he met Superman. He’s still around and on on all the boxes, but it feels like the Trix rabbit gets all the love over at Nestle. As a kid I loved Quik for all my powdered chocolate milk needs, but as an adult, I’m partial to Ovaltine, if only for the A Christmas Story and Roundhouse connections.
  2.

    American Rabbit

  3. American Rabbit – I honestly don’t remember much about this movie, other than that it featured a rabbit then when he runs fast enough he gets a crazy American costume with roller skates, and it was distributed by the same group that did Heathcliff: The Movie, GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords, He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword, and Here Comes the Littles. Because of all the trailers in those other films, I remember I forced my parents to take me to go see this, even though I was only 5 at the time. It may have been a co-production with Toei animation, but even that doesn’t keep it from not being able to really hold up after all these years, but I’ll never forget how into it I was as a kid.
  4.

    Roger Rabbit

  5. Roger Rabbit – Sure, he was in like the worst Nintendo game ever, but he’s married to Jessica Rabbit. That’s enough to get on the list in and of itself. I don’t care if she’s a cartoon, she’s hot, and the basis of many an epic cosplay.
  6.

    Space Usagi Yojimbo

  7. Space Usagi Yojimbo – Even though he only made two appearances on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, that didn’t stop Playmates from making several action figures based on him. I particularly loved Space Usagi because of its sheer craziness, like the fact that he has a space helmet, but it has a giant hole in it for his ears to stick out of. How would that even work?
  8.

    Buneary

  9. Buneary – Look at how friggen’ cute she is! She was the first pokemon that Dawn caught herself, and she has a crush on Ash’s Pikachu. Plus, it’s just fun to say Buneary, Try it. Buneary. You can’t say it without smiling.
  10.

    Adam Rose Bunny

  11. Adam Rose’s Bunny – Adam Rose was awesome in NXT, but he’s floundered on the main roster. The stand out member of his entourage of Rosebuds was The Bunny. Commentary alternatively described him as both a giant rabbit and a guy in a bunny suit. The two of them started feuding after The Bunny cost Rose a match. The Bunny ended up getting over way more than Rose ever was. The whole story was quietly moved to the back burner and Rose was kept off TV for a few months. His performer, Justin Gabriel, quit and now Rose is back sans bunny. It looks like we’ll never get to know who was supposed to be in the suit, which is a damn shame, but it’s certainly not the first time WWE has just forgotten about a storyline half way through..
  12.

is the proud owner of a life size replica Captain Kirk Chair. He is a hoarder of Comic Books, Transformers, and Star Trek action figures. He attended Space Camp as an adult. He has taken vacations to the closing of the Star Trek Experience and the final night Shuttle launch. He has been known to yell at his television when the kids can't put together the damn statue in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. When not writing for InsufficientScotty, he is a Software Engineer for a major healthcare communications company.
