CZW’s Dojo Wars 29 Results
Well, since I don’t have anything to do on Wednesday nights, and the CZW Academy is only 20 minutes from my house, every other week I’ll be attending Dojo Wars, their weekly “House Show”. It’s 5 matches for 5 bucks, how can you go wrong with that? Because the only way to see the show is to be there, and only a very limited number of people can fit in the place, I’ll let you in on all the details with a full results list, pictures and match breakdown.
While not many people showed up at this the first weekly Dojo Wars that wasn’t part of the originally scheduled bi-weekly shows, that didn’t keep it from being jam packed. It featured seven intense matches, and may well have been the most intimate and entertaining night of Dojo Wars yet.
Results:
- Joey Janela defeated Josh Adams
- Brittany Blake defeated Arlene James
- Frankie Pikard defeated TJ Sykes
- George Gatton and Curt Robinson defeated Nate Carter and Dave McCall
- Jasmine Naveen defeated Trooper Audubon
- Penelope Ford and Sozio defeated Drew Gulak and Qefka the Quiet
- Conor Claxton defeated David John Willard to retain the Medal of Valor
Joey Janela vs. Josh Adams
Adams came out first and cut a promo that he’s still better than the rest of the Dojo Wars roster, even if he did lose last week to someone who barely ever shows up. The two of them took turns beating each other, with Janela getting in a few European Uppercuts. They traded submissions, with Adams applying his Flat Crab, and Janela countering it into a Boston Crab. Janela picked up a win after Adams blocked a Tornado Clothesline, but Janela rebounded into another Tornado Clothesline followed by a Sitout Powerbomb.
Winner: Joey Janela

Brittany Blake vs. Arlene James
Arlene started out a bit old school with a solid Snap Mare, and followed up with a Cartwheel Spear. Brittany countered with a Bulldog and then climbed to the top and hit a prone Arlene right in the back with a Double Foot Stomp. Brittany picked up the win when she forced Arlene to tap to the Tequila Sunrise.
Winner: Brittany Blake
Bell Time: 7:22

Frankie Pikard vs. TJ Sykes
Sykes made his Dojo Wars, and I’m fairly certain his Professional Wrestling, debut here, and manages to do pretty OK for himself. He spent most of the match trying to isolate Frankie’s knee, which Frankie returned in kind. The two of them exchanged a series of stiff slaps while on their knees, nearly knocking each other over with each stiff strike. Frankie picked up the win with a leg lock.
Winner: Frankie Pikard
Bell Time: 7:49

Nate Carter and Dave McCall vs. George Gatton and Curt Robinson
McCall called Gatton out on his chops and gave him a pretty week one. Gatton threw him to the corner, and pummeled him with his patented chops. After a few tags, Gatton and Robinson teamed up on Carter for the Double Suplex. Gatton picked up the win after the sloppiest Sunset Flip I have ever seen, as he had clearly been concussed and could barely get himself to jump up, let alone carry his momentum over, taking a few tries to do it. He seemed to be all together after the match, so it looks like he’ll be OK.
Winner: George Gatton and Curt Robinson
Bell Time: 10:32

Trooper Audubon vs. Jasmine Naveen
Trooper came down to the ring and announced he was instituting the Jack Tunney Memorial Invitational Open Challenge, and that he could beat anyone in the back. Out to answer his challenger was newcomer Jasmine. Trooper was concerned that he would be fighting a girl, and didn’t even want to take off his jacket he thought he would have it so easy. Jasmine was having none of it, and came out swinging and went straight for a crucifix pin for a near fall. Trooper was on the ropes for pretty much the whole match after that. Jasmine hit him with a stiff flying elbow from all four corners. That seemed to rouse Trooper back onto offense, but just as he got his bearings, Jasmine rolled him up for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Jasmine Navine
Bell Time: 6:42

Drew Gulak and Qefka the Quiet vs. Penelope Ford and Sozio
Sozio got things off to a good start by doing his best Enzo Amore promo, which was hilarious, even if he didn’t spell it out. The fun didn’t stop there, as it usually doesn’t during a Qefka match. Qefka busted out his usual mime tactics, including the Wall, the Slingshot, and the Tarzan Swing. However, this week, he was not alone in his miming, as Penelope decided to get in on the action. She pulled out a roll of duct tape, and wrapped up Qefka’s feet. He managed to hobble himself over to his corner, and Gulak had to use his fingers to cut his partner free. It was really a sight to behold. Outside of all the comedy, Penelope fooled everyone, including Gulak, by throwing him to the corner and setting up for her Cartwheel Elbow, but instead hit him with a Spear, after which she was able to put him away with a Rainbow Bridge.
Winner: Penelope Ford and Sozio
Bell Time: 20:13

David John Willard vs. Conor Claxton
The match started out roughly, as apparently in the corner there was some type of white jizz like substance, and both combatants tried to push the other into it. DJ hung Conor up in a Tree of Woe, then gave him a vicious spear. DJ is a large man, but Vader he ain’t. That didn’t stop him from doing an insane senton from the top turnbuckle for the first fall. DJ couldn’t keep up the momentum from such a big spot, and Conor was able to score the next two falls to retain his championship.
- David John Willard pinned Conor Claxton after a Senton Bomb from top turnbuckle
- Conor Claxton pinned David John Willard in a Crucifix
- Conor Claxton forced David John Willard to submit to a Cross Armbar
Winner: Conor Claxton
