CZW’s Dojo Wars 30 Results

Well, since I don’t have anything to do on Wednesday nights, and the CZW Academy is only 20 minutes from my house, every other week I’ll be attending Dojo Wars, their weekly “House Show”. It’s at least 5 matches for just 5 bucks, how can you go wrong with that? Because the only way to see the show is to be there, and only a very limited number of people can fit in the place, I’ll let you in on all the details with a full results list, pictures and match breakdown.
 

So tonight seems to be the start of a new Wednesday Night War, what with NXT, Lucha Underground, Ring of Honor, and TNA all airing on the same night now, which is just awesome. Or would be if El Rey was available anywhere so I could watch Lucha Underground in English, but I digress. It’s a great time to be a wrestling fan. But I wont be partaking in any of those as they air, because I’ll be watching live wrestling. Tonight had a few good matches, and a few stinkers, but you can’t go wrong for just $5.

Qefka the Quiet and Dan O’Hare vs. George Gatton and Penelope Ford

 
With Qefka and Penelope both involved this week, I was hoping for more mime shenanigans, but it was not to be. Dan and George started out with the trash talk. Dan said George wasn’t strong, while George said Dan wasn’t pretty. They took turns beating each other, with George laying in more than a few of his patented chops. Both got the hot tag, and Qefka and Penelope went at it. Qefka missed on the Mime Time, but even so managed to keep Penelope down. Dan tagged himself in, cocky that he could handle Penelope. He went for an Electric Chair, but she countered and rolled through for the Sunset Flip for the pinfall.

Trooper Audubon vs. Jasmine Naveen

 
This was the second of Trooper’s Dojo Wars Grand Prix Trial Series Jack Tunney Memorial Invitational Open Challenges, and Jasmine answered the call yet again. Jasmine wasn’t as fired up as she was last week, but she did get Trooper in a series of nice Arm Drags. Jasmine had Trooper down recovering on his hands and knees. She then stepped up on his back, stood there for a few seconds, then came crashing down in a Senton Splash across him. Jasmine gave Trooper a nasty Suplex that dumped him right on his head. Trooper played possum like he was hurt, lured Jasmine in, set her up, then gave her a nasty boot to the head while she was kneeling down to score the win.

David John Willard vs. Joey Janela

 
Joey started of the match kind of doing the CM Punk feet shuffle thing, which DJ said looked like he was dancing with himself. This escalated into a dance off between the two of them with chants of “Dance Willard Dance”. While Joey is a “Bad Boy”, he’s an even worse dancer. He tried to bust out the “Thriller” zombie dance and just failed miserably. After a rough start, the two of them actually started wrestling. Joey went for several Shoulder Blocks without success. He managed to convince DJ to try to do the same and see if he could knock him down, but as soon as DJ went for it, Joey just kicked him right in the gut. DJ then Dropkicked Joey so hard across the ring he landed hung up in the corner on his head. DJ then tied him up in a Tree of Woe, gave him the DX “Suck It” chop, and laid the Smackdown on his chest. DJ went up for the Senton Bomb again, but missed. That didn’t stop him from hitting Joey with a Spear that knocked him a clean 360 degrees around in the air. DJ took off his elbow pad looking for the knockout blow, but Joey avoided it, hitting two Superkicks, followed by a Tornado Clothesline for 1-2-3.

Josh Adams vs. Brittany Blake

 
Josh came to the ring still boasting that he’s better than anyone in the Dojo, even though he is on a several week losing streak. Brittany hit him with a Springboard Crossbody off the second rope. Josh threw her into the ropes, and gave her a Leg Drop from the apron. She stumbled to the corner, falling down across the timekeeper’s table, where she laid for a 9 count before rolling back in. Brittany then went for a dive from the top turnbuckle, but Josh was able to snatch her out of the air, catching her, throwing her up on his shoulders, then tossing her up, letting her fall down across his knees. Josh then made the same mistake as Dan did earlier, getting Brittany up on his shoulders, but she countered and rolled through for the Sunset Flip Roll Up for the pin.

Curt Robinson vs. Joe Gacy

 
This match wasn’t much too write home about. It was mostly a ground and pound affair, with lots of mat wrestling and near falls, and a tons of loud grunting. Curt did literally bust out an RKO out of nowhere, as I do not think that he has used that move before. That just seemed to make Gacy mad, as after that he really turned up the intensity, picked up Curt, Gorilla Pressed him, then force him to tap out to the Rings of Saturn.

Frankie Pikard vs. Conor Claxton

 
This was Frankie and Conor’s 10th singles match against each other. While they both show a lot of progress since their best of 7 that started the Dojo Wars, this was just a clunky affair all around. The ref counted the first fall to 5 for some reason. Frankie came out strong and aggressive, focusing on Conor’s knee. He scored fall number one with Conor down on his stomach, he stepped through his arms, rolled him onto his back as he bridged himself for a nice crucifix pin. Conor got on the offensive and hit a nice Sunset Flip Powerbomb, but Alexa Bliss he is not. He followed that up with a Bicycle Kick. He then got two falls in quick succession, one after a Leg Drop from the top rope, and one after a Fireman’s Carry Slam. It felt very rushed and anticlimactic, as Conor has not used either of those two moves before, and they didn’t seem to have a lot of impact. It’s also odd that one of the falls for Conor wasn’t the Cross Armbreaker, as he almost always uses it, but here he didn’t even attempt it. I don’t know if Frankie got hurt, or someone forget the sequence, or the ref screwed up, but that match just seemed to stop out of nowhere with no build. Hopefully it was just a fluke, as the show was over by 9:45, which is pretty early.
