Friday Five – Favorite Apps
Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week I help you get to know me a bit better writers with the help of a top five list. This week’s category: Favorite Apps
Having a smart phone in your pocket has become an almost indispensable necessity in today’s world. In fact, I know I feel naked when I forget to take mine for the day when I leave the house in the morning. What am I going to do? The reason we all feel like we need a phone with us all the time is all the cool stuff they can do for us with apps, that years ago you needed to go to a room in your house and use a computer to do. Now my phone is as powerful and useful (if not more so) than the laptop on my desk.
- CLZ Comics – This app has gotten better since I reviewed it back in the early days of the site. I still have a few issues with the desktop app, but the mobile app is indispensable at cons for keeping track of my collection.
- Comixology – Lets me read comics in the bathroom at work without having to worry about getting the pages wet.
- Google Maps – The last update is a bit of a mess for an interface, but the sheer fact that I have a full powered GPS in my pocket is kinda fucking amazing.
- Nike Running – Shut up! – Not that I run much, it’s more a brisk walk, but it still tracks your progress, plots it all out on a map, and then gives you all kinds of stats on all your runs.
- BubbleUPNP – Allows me to stream movies from my NAS direct to my phone or tablet. It’s pretty awesome.
