Friday Five – Star Wars Day Edition!

To Friday Five, Star Wars

Star Wars

With today being May 4th, even though I’m at the Star Trek Con, I thought I would do something Star Wars related.

I used to be huge into Star Wars. Back when AOL was only 5 hours a month, I spent those 5 hours in a 1 hour Star Wars trivia chatroom each Friday night. But then the dark day came on May 19, 1999, and I decided to switch my primary allegiance to Star Trek.

  1. Ulic Qel-DromaTales of The Jedi comics – It’s been my online handle for over 20 years now. The original template for Anakin before he turned into a whiny emo bitch (awesome Jedi tries to infiltrate the Dark Side, it’s more powerful then he thought, succumbs to it, then is expelled from the Force, but is redeemed by a young child)
  2.

  3. Wedge Antilles – The only pilot besides the unnamed Y-wing to survive the Battle of Yavin, and an all around badass. Upon further research, it would appear that it was in fact not an unnamed Y-Wing, but Gold 7, flown by Keyan Farlander, as there really is no such thing as “Unnamed Characters” in the Expanded Universe
  4.

  5. R5-D4 – The astromech droid that was originally sold to Uncle Owen, it’s been alluded to in the expanded universe that he was in fact Force Sensitive, and blew his motivator himself to ensure R2 ended up with Luke.
  6.

  7. Gonk – GNK Power Droid – Seen briefly in ANH in the Jawa barge, and again being tortured at Jaba’s Palace in ROTJ, I remember buying this toy from the rec.toys.action-figures.starwars newsgroup.
  8.

  9. Anakin Skywalker, pre 1999 – Back in my day, you had to be a hardcore nerd to even know who Anakin Skywalker was.

is the proud owner of a life size replica Captain Kirk Chair. He is a hoarder of Comic Books, Transformers, and Star Trek action figures. He attended Space Camp as an adult. He has taken vacations to the closing of the Star Trek Experience and the final night Shuttle launch. He has been known to yell at his television when the kids can't put together the damn statue in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. When not writing for InsufficientScotty, he is a Software Engineer for a major healthcare communications company.
