Friday Five – Horror and Monster Movies
I don’t really know why I chose this for a topic this week. I’m not really a big Monster/Horror fan, so this list is a bit of a stretch for me. Well, let’s see what happens!

Friday Five – Stoner Movies/Characters
Colorado and Washington just legalized recreational marijuana, so I decided to run down my favorite stoner movies and characters, even though marijuana has never really done anything for me personally.
The Expendables 2 comes out today. It stars almost every action movie star of the 80’s, which is great if you like that sort of thing. One problem. I don’t really like that sort of thing, so this is gonna be a very odd list.
While Peter Jackson has made a big deal out of filming his new trilogy of Hobbit movies at 48 frames per second, twice the standard speed in use for over 100 years, Warner Brothers has stated that it plans a slow rollout of the film at 48 FPS. In fact, it will only be available in full 48 FPS in a “handful of theaters”, and “perhaps not even all major cities”, according to Variety.
Good news everyone! On yesterdays earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that they had locked up a exclusive agreement with Joss Whedon through 2015, which includes both writing and directing the sequel to the $1.5 billion worldwide grossing (yes, that’s billion, with a ‘B’, and that doesn’t include any merch, just ticket sales) Avengers, and that along with that, he’ll also be developing a Marvel based TV show for ABC.

Friday Five – Favorite Movies From the ’90s
Ughhh, this week’s topic is particularly hard. The breadth of awesome ’90s movies is very wide indeed. Narrowing this down to just five is extremely difficult. I tried to pick a bunch of movies that typified the ’90s, and that I’ll watch over and over and over again.
Today producer Bryan Singer told IGN that work is under way on the sequel to X-Men: First Class, and the plan is to adapt the classic Chris Claremont/John Byrne story Days of Future Past from Uncanny X-Men 141-142.
Sounds totally sweet to me. So long as it’s at least as good the X-Men animated series take on the same story, it should be good. Earth-811 is a very busy place, so there should be plenty of story to tell. It even opens up the possibility of a bridge between the characters and actors from the first trilogy interacting with their counterparts in First Class. Wonder if this means they would have to bring back Ellen Page to be Kitty Pryde?
Stay turned for more details as they become available.
