Welcome to the Friday Five! Each week I help you get to know me a bit better with the help of a top 5 list. This week’s category: Least Favorite TV Main Characters.

Not every character on TV can be a real winner. Some are just plain grating and annoying and exist solely to makes things horrible for those characters we do like. Here’s my list of characters that just make their shows worse.

  1. Tara Thornton True Blood – She is a horrible character and a horrible actress, and I could not give two shits about anything she was ever doing. Her and all her storylines made watching True Blood a laborious chore, so much so that I threw up my hands and quit when they made her into a vampire or whatever. Tara has no redeeming qualities. Sookie may be the dumbest character on the show, but she is at least attractive and gets naked frequently.
  2.

  3. Randy Orton – WWE – I’m on a big wrestling thing of late. I know he’s a heel, but god damnit, he’s such an asshole I just want him to drop the belt to anyone, be it Cena, Daniel Bryan, or I’d even take Zack Ryder, The Great Khali, or El Torito at this point, over Orton. His matches are just boring and repetitive and aren’t any fun to watch. Plus there are a ton of better talent being held back from their shot because Orton’s at the top (namely Daniel Bryan)
  4.

  5. Mark Brendanawicz Parks and Recreation – He never really fit the show, and Leslie’s unrequited crush on him pulled focus away from her other more likable assets. The show greatly improved after his departure.
  6.

  7. Dee MTV’s Undressed – While I know this show is 15 years old and no one else even remembers this show, this immediately jumped out in my mind. All the other storylines on the show were about the love lives of young, attractive, white, southern California coeds. Then comes a storyline about a black thug basketball player. Now call me racist (RACIST!), but his story just didn’t fit in with the rest of the show and drew away from the other, better, storylines in the episodes he was involved in.
  8.

  9. Martha JonesDoctor Who – I never really liked Mickey Smith either, but he eventually came back as a badass, so he gets a pass. Martha though, I just always found grating. Rose was just such a better character, and Martha just couldn’t fill her shoes by comparison.

Tara Thornton

He has taken vacations to the closing of the Star Trek Experience and the final night Shuttle launch.
