Spider Man Villains

Welcome to the Friday Five, where each week I help you get to know me a bit better with the help of a Top 5 list. This week’s topic: Spider Man Villains.

So this weekend is the big release of Amazing Spider-Man 2. It looks like it might be pretty OK, but I’m not running out to see it immediately like I was with Captain America. Regardless, in honor of the new film, I’m picking my favorite Spider Man villains this week.

  1. Green Goblin – Pretty much the defining point in Pete’s character development is when the Green Goblin killed Gwen Stacy
  2.

  3. Venom – From what I understand, his history is crazy complicated now, but I loved the original, Eddie Brock Venom, who was the meanest Spider Man baddie of the 90’s.
  4.

  5. Carnage – Well, at least until this guy showed up. What would make Venom even better? Let’s give the symbiote to a crazed psychopathic murder!
  6.

  7. Doctor Octopus – His “death” as it was, was kinda lame, but this past arc as the “Superior” Spider Man was very interesting.
  8.

  9. The Lizard – Todd McFarland’s initial run on adjectiveless Spider-Man is one of my favorite stories.
