Even though Halo 5 won’t be coming out until next year, it seems we’re getting more than enough Master Chief goodness to tide ourselves over until then. According to reports, it seems that Microsoft are getting set to announce one big collection containing HD remasters of the main 4 games, titled Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Unfortunately, such a title suggests that ODST and Reach will not be a part of it, but fans who have been clamoring for a revival of Halo 2 can now rest easy knowing that it’s happening. Normally, I wouldn’t write about something that’s still a rumor at this point, but it has come from someone known for being accurate about these things in the very recent past, so here’s an exception.

I must say that I’m a little bummed that it’ll only be the games starring Master Chief, as Reach was one of my personal favorites of the series. Still, it’s pretty cool that such a collection is happening and coming so soon. If it’s done in a similar fashion to how Anniversary was handled – allowing players to switch between the original and vastly improved graphics on the fly, while keeping all of the game’s mechanics in tact – then that would make it absolutely worth playing through again. Of course, only time will tell how the campaigns are handled though, along with what kind of multiplayer it will have, but it is said to be coming “this fall.”

What do you think? Have you been among the fans aching to play through a prettier version of these classics, or would you rather stay away from the green power armor at this point?

has been into gaming and just about everything nerdy or out of the norm for as long as he can remember. He likes to keep an open mind about things, but also has a strangely high amount of fun getting into a rant or good debate. . . which is probably why he was recruited to this site in the first place.
