Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding Games Returning In 2015
It looks like Activision and Tony Hawk are reuniting, because both have confirmed yesterday that new games on console and mobile platforms are on their way at some point in the next year. Is the skating game genre coming back from the dead?
After releasing some questionable at best console games involving a required plastic board peripheral, then a HD “remake” that didn’t quite feel right, one can only assume that the right move here would be to go back to the spirit of the games that put the series at the top in the first place. With the original developers at Neversoft now under the Infinity Ward name and making Call of Duty titles, the biggest question here is who has the series now. Unfortunately, all we know is that the games are coming; there’s no word yet on the scale of the games or anything else.
Personally, I used to be a huge fan of the series, all the way up until the not-so-good Project 8 and Proving Ground titles. If this is a true comeback to what made the genre so great, then I’ll be more than happy to hop back on board (pun intended) and welcome the series back. If not, then I guess I could just keep waiting on EA to finally tell us we can have a Skate 4.
