Halo Nightfall

Despite the imminent closure of Xbox Entertainment Studios, Microsoft revealed our first look at the Halo: Nightfall  TV series during San Diego Comic-Con . . . and it looks pretty damn good.

The first episode is set to air on Xbox consoles in November, and appears to follow a team of characters who are brand new to the Halo world. One of these new characters, Agent Jameson Locke, will actually be a playable character in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, and it appears that the show will be connected with the main games. Here’s Microsoft’s official description of the show:

Halo: Nightfall introduces a pivotal new character, Jameson Locke, a legendary manhunter and agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), Earth’s most powerful and secretive military branch. When he and his team are caught in a horrific biological attack, they unravel a plot that draws them to an ancient, hellish artifact, where they will be forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives.

Taking place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall is Locke’s origin story which will lend insight and understanding into the character he becomes in Halo 5: Guardians.

Sounds . . . different, for sure.

Currently, there’s no word on whether or not the series will make its way to regular television at some point, so it may just stay limited to everyone with an Xbox 360 or One that’s connected to the internet (which still covers a majority of the people who’d likely want to watch it, anyway.) I must say I’m impressed by the overall quality in the trailer. The guns look fantastic, and it all has a good balance of feeling like Halo and like something of its own at the same time. Watch the trailer for yourselves right here and let us know what you think.

He likes to keep an open mind about things, but also has a strangely high amount of fun getting into a rant or good debate. . . which is probably why he was recruited to this site in the first place.
