Take It Or Leave It – September 05, 2012

To Take It Or Leave It

I had a pretty light week, being as Marvel went a third week in a row with no new AvX stuff, and I had a meeting at work after my lunch break so I didn’t have as much time to peruse as I normally do. However, this week is the start of yet another ‘Zero Month’ over at DC, so I got some of those. So let’s review Black Kiss II #2, Damsels #1, Worlds’ Finest #0, Green Lantern Volume 5 #0 and Lady Death #21.

To Take It Or Leave It

I’m not usually much of a DC person, at least when it comes to comics, I usually prefer their characters in other media. But it’s been a year since the New 52 started, and apparently that means some big things, so I picked up a bunch of their stuff this week, and a few other indie odds and ends (Green Lantern Volume 5 Annual #1, Justice League #12, National Comics: Looker, Li’l Homer #1, Critter #3, & Legend of Oz: The Wicked West #6). I made out much better than I did last week, when that dumb Comic Con Girl book make me physically ill and upset after reading it. I apologize if last week was not my best, as that was the book I read first and it ruined everything afterwards.

Get ready to brace yourself, because one of this week’s entries (The Adventures of Comic Con Girl #1, Cavewoman: Gangster #1, Danger Girl/G.I. Joe #2, The Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom #1) is the of the most mitigated disaster of an abortion of a pile of shit comic book I’ve ever read. Frankly, the mere fact that I read it leaves me upset and angry. I would invent time travel just to go back in time and prevent myself from reading one of those books it’s so bad. Which book was it? You’ll need to read on to find out.

To Take It Or Leave It

Today was a big day for new series apparently, as a bunch of publishers put out a lot of new series (Battle Beasts #2, Victories #1, Pathfinder #1, Thun’da #1, Witchblade: Demon Reborn #1) I could jump on at #1. Will I stick around for any issue twos? We’ll see.

To Take It Or Leave It

This is the first of of new column, where each week I pick out new comics and tell you if they’re worth the price and you should take them, or if you should just leave them on the shelf. This week I review Idolized #1, Space Punisher #2, Beasts of Burden: Neighborhood Watch, and Superman Family Adventures #3.

I’ve read every AvX branded title all crossover long, so I think I come from a good position to review all the action so far.

Friday Five – Batman Villians

To Comic Books, Friday Five

Everyone loves Batman, how can you not? He is simply a total badass. He’s one of the few superheroes who has no real powers of which to speak of. His super power is really just lots of money and time. But even so, he stands toe to toe with some of the most powerful heroes of all time, like Green Lantern or Superman, and he’s managed to beat both in fights in various media, using nothing but his smarts.

Well, almost everyone loves Batman. He has a vast array of enemies in his rogues gallery who want nothing more than to see him dead. Out of all of comicdom, I would have to say Batman has the deepest and most interesting set of arch nemeses. Some say they only exist because Batman encourages them. Some say Batman only exists because of them. Maybe we’ll never know, but one we we do know for sure, we love us some awesome villains!

OK, so it isn’t entirely free. There is a catch.
