Friday Five – Favorite Holiday Specials

There’s a reason TV has been showing the same Christmas specials for over 40 years. All the best ones are classics that pretty much define Christmas for many people. While many of my picks aren’t on TV every year, I always make an effort to watch them each christmas season.

What do you get the comic geek who has everything for Christmas? One thing you know they won’t have is an original production Animation Cel from one of Marvel’s Animated series from the 90’s. If you’re anything at all like me, you were practically raised by TV. I mean, it never showed up to school plays or my graduation, or ever gave me an allowance, but TV sure taught me a lot about how a family is supposed to be.

Greendale Flag - E Pluribus Anus

I know I’m a little late with this, but I still don’t have power after the FrankenStorm and am still coming up to speed, but had to share this anyway. As predicted, Community with be taking over the time slot vacated by 30 Rock when it returns on February 7th. So now we’ll get to watch Halloween and Christmas themed episodes in March. I can gladly deal with that if it means more awesome stuff like the video below.

Why all the worrying about flesh wounds on ‘The Walking Dead’?

The Walking Dead

Warning – Spoilers abound for last night’s episode ahead. If you aren’t all caught up, read at your own peril.

So I was watching last nights episode of The Walking Dead, and something struck me as odd. Without spoiling it before the jump, to put it simply, several people have been injured of late on the show, which have lead to some extreme consequences. I say these consequences are all a big over reaction. Why the big deal about the flesh wounds?

Community returns someday, just not today

Greendale Flag - E Pluribus Anus

Tonight was supposed to be the season four premier of Community. However, the powers that be over at Kabletown couldn’t come to a consensus as to when to actually air it or how to promote it. So for now, it just kind of dangles hauntingly in the ether, teasing us of an eventual return we know not when. The most likely scenario now that Animal Practice is canceled (which frees up Annie’s Boobs), is Whitney takes Animal Practice‘s place, and Community returns midseason replacing either 30 Rock or Up All Night. Which means we’ll be watching Halloween themed episodes for Valentine’s Day, but it’s a sacrifice we’re willing to make. I’ll just let Troy and Abed explain it . . .

Last night Zenescope threw a launch party to show off the results of their successful Kickstarter campaign, and debut the nearly finished Grimm Fairy Tales Animated pilot. I made the trek up to Times Scare in the heart of Times Square to see it. How was it? Read on and find out!
