Friday Five – Robots

Friday Five on July 5, 2013 at 2:45 pm by

Robots. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. From your dishwasher to the arm of the International Space Station, robots are simply everywhere. And I for one welcome our supreme robot overlords.

This week I review Age of Ultron #10 A.I. While most of Age of Ultron proved to be kinda a letdown and a pointless waste of time, this coda showed that it was all leading somewhere. Well, sort of.

If you haven’t been reading IDW’s Star Trek series set in the new movie universe, you’ve been missing out on the full story. It added a bunch of layers to Star Trek Into Darkness, and now the comics are continuing the story of the movie, and it’s pretty interesting. If you liked the movie (and why would you not?), you should give this series a try.

The fallout from this summer’s blockbuster movie STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS continues here, in the fan-favorite ongoing series overseen by TREK writer/producer Roberto Orci! Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise face a dire new threat rising in the wake of the movie’s momentous events!

So it’s all come down to this. The final issue of Age of Ultron. Was it all worth it? You’ll need to hit the jump to find out.

There was a time back in my youth, where I was a huge X-Files fan. I literally had a different X-Files shirt for every day of the week. The show kind of went downhill after Mulder left in Season 8 (as we’ve discussed before), but now The X-Files are back in comic book form from IDW, picking up right where the show left off (and ignoring that last lackluster movie no one saw). And Chris Carter is involved, so it should be pretty cool. Check it out for yourself after the jump.

Friday Five – Favorite Fictional Fathers

Friday Five on June 14, 2013 at 2:07 pm by

Father’s Day is this weekend, so I’m picking my favorite Fictional Fathers. A good father should do anything for their kids, be it put up with their shit, travel through time, or beat another man senseless to get them something they want.

I previewed this earlier in the week, and now here’s my full review of Six Gun Gorilla #1, about, unsurprisingly, a large gorilla who shoots guns. He also talks. Of course he does.

For this week’s preview, I bring you another one from Boom Studios. This time it’s Six Gun Gorilla #1. Sorry, I just couldn’t pass up that artful wordplay. Also, a gorilla with guns, how can that possibly be bad?
