Lie down, try not to cry, cry a lot.

I went under the assumption of two ground rules: The “Jurassic Bark” episode of Futurama and The Iron Giant are both assumed, as if you don’t cry during both of those, you are a soulless demon of a person. Also, these days I’m kinda broken in that pretty much any time an orchestra swells, I’ll break down weeping. I used to be a hard emotionless person, but my ex girlfriend taught me how to feel, much like Laurie Laughlin did to Jerry on Seinfeld. Unfortunately, I haven’t been scared straight yet by George, being as I am pretty much George, so I just have to deal with it.

This week on Take It Or Leave It, I examine Avengers #7, a table setting piece in Hickman’s overall plan to destroy the Avengers.

Since it went over so well last time we previewed it, for this week’s preview, I present Issue 3 of Boom Studio’s Adventure Time spin off, Fiona & Cake, written and drawn by Adventure Time storyboard artist Natasha Allegri.

Friday Five – Frustrating Games

Friday Five, Video Games on March 1, 2013 at 12:09 pm by

I think screaming bullshit, and declaring that the computer is a liar and a dirty cheater is a universal experience for all gamers. While it’s usually not true that the game is actively screwing with you, some games seem designed to punish players rather than entertain them.

This week I bring you Shadowman #5 from Valiant Comics. Valiant was big back in the day (I still have my copy of the first Valiant book ever published, Super Mario Brothers #1), and while they had some problems a while ago, they are back with a vengeance now after a 13 year absence from the comic book scene.

This should be a good place to jump on board, as this is the first issue of an all-new arc by acclaimed creators Justin Jordan and Patrick Zircher with Lee Garbett (X-O Manowar) and Roberto De La Torre (Age of Apocalypse)! Start reading here as the new Shadowman dives headlong into the dark side of the Valiant Universe – only to find himself caught in the crossfire of a demonic turf war engineered by the unspeakable evil of Master Darque!

Friday Five – Foreign TV Shows

Friday Five, Television on February 22, 2013 at 4:06 pm by

We as Americans tend to be jaded and assume that our TV shows are the best and only thing out there. When in fact, the entertainment industries in a lot of non-US countries is really kicking our ass and making awesome shows that Americans would never dream of showing. You may need to search them out, but they are well worth the effort.

For our first entry, we bring you issue 13 of Kaboom Studio’s ongoing Adventure Time series. No pancakes in this issue unfortunately. But in this issue, Finn and Jake do have to work together to save BMO from a magical computer virus . . . by going INSIDE THE GAME.

So yesterday was Valentine’s Day, so I guess today would be a good day to put my vast knowledge of Chick Flicks to good use. I’m comfortable enough in my masculinity to say that yes, I love me a good Romantic Comedy. So what? Wanna fight about it?

Alot of these ended up on my Desert Island Movie list or I’ve mentioned them before, but screw it, I’m gonna use them again. Also, I’m not using my first choice of The Terminator, though it’s totally a time crossed romance when you think about it.
